Your $5 preorder is a way to help me determine whether this concept is worth pursuing for you.

Each of the first five customers to preorder will receive their own working prototype. I will work with you to create a custom solution.

Your $5 will be automatically refunded when the test ends, regardless of whether the product proceeds.

Proposed design

Choosing what to read can feel harder when every option is visible at once. The Book Carousel is designed to make that choice feel more manageable by allowing you to consider each book individually.

It holds up to three books on separate stands, while the rotating inner platform reveals one complete cover through the viewing window at a time.

A fourth position is intentionally left empty. When you are not choosing what to read, rotate the platform to this blank position so every cover remains hidden. This prevents one book from being left on display all day and gradually becoming visual wallpaper.

How the concept would work

  1. Place up to three books onto the stands inside the carousel.
  2. Rotate the inner platform to reveal one book through the viewing window.
  3. Consider that book on its own, then rotate again when you are ready to view the next one.
  4. Stop when you find the book you want to read.
  5. When you are finished, rotate the window to the empty position to hide every book until next time.

Does this idea suck?

I don’t want to reinvent something that already works.

If you personally use—or know of—an existing product, service, DIY solution or simple technique that makes this concept unnecessary, please email me at help@shouldwemakeit.com

If possible, include:

  • The name or link.
  • How it solves the problem.
  • Whether you have used it yourself.
  • What it does better than this concept.

If I build something unnecessary that’s no better than what already exists, nobody wins.

You get another product that isn’t worth your money, and I waste time and resources.

Your feedback can help prevent that—or help me create something genuinely better for you.
